The Technical Precision Behind a Jets livery

What It Really Takes to Get It Right — From Planning to Paint

When it’s time for a business jet to receive a new look, the task goes far beyond aesthetics. A full repaint demands meticulous planning, thorough technical inspections, and a reliable technical partner who understands the complexity of temporarily removing an aircraft from service. In this case, JetSupport was chosen to manage the complete technical coordination for a Bombardier Global XRS repaint—ensuring a smooth, safe and timely process from arrival to release.

The Situation: Client Needs Full Technical Oversight for Repaint

A global operator of a Global Express XRS decided to refresh the aircraft’s exterior with a brand-new livery. With a limited operational window between scheduled flights, they needed a reliable European MRO for business aviation—one capable of handling more than just the aesthetic part. They were looking for a partner with experience in Global Express jet maintenance, who could manage the technical side of the repaint process from A to Z.

With our long track record in aircraft repaints, and close collaboration with paint providers, JetSupport was the logical choice.

The Approach: Full Technical Coordination at Every Stage

JetSupport assembled a dedicated team of engineers and project coordinators to guide the process from start to finish. Our method combines precision, transparency, and planning—vital for projects that blend technical scrutiny with visual upgrades.

1. Arrival and Initial Inspection

Upon arrival at the pain facility, the aircraft underwent a full incoming inspection to document its technical condition. This included assessing for obvious damages and removal and protection of several critical components.

2. Dent & Buckle Inspection After Stripping

Once the original paint was removed by our specialized partner, JetSupport carried out a detailed dent and buckle inspection. This is a critical phase, where we examine the full airframe for dents, scratches, or structural deviations that may have been hidden under the paint. Thanks to our expertise in unscheduled aircraft composite or sheet metal repairs, our team is able to act quickly on any findings—preventing delays and ensuring compliance.

3. Post-Paint Technical Checks

After the new livery was applied, JetSupport conducted a thorough post-paint inspection. This includes lubrication, installation of plugs and panels, application of all exterior placards and markings and a full operational check of the aircraft pitot static system.

4. Functional Testing, Weighing and Release to Service

In the final stage, we executed a series of functional checks: lighting systems, emergency exits, avionic tests, and of course the re-weighing of the aircraft. Once everything passed, we completed the official release to service—clearing the aircraft for operational use.

Our MCC ensured that the process was smooth, efficient, and aligned with the client’s timeline.

The Result: A Fresh New Look, Delivered with Confidence

The aircraft was delivered on time, in pristine condition, with a new custom livery and all systems fully certified. The client was able to return the Global XRS to service without delays or technical concerns—confident in the quality of the work.

This project highlights the importance of combining technical expertise with aesthetic upgrades. Without proper inspections and technical oversight, repainting can lead to hidden risks. JetSupport’s high quality aircraft maintenance ensures that style never compromises safety.
