Smart Resource Planning at JetSupport

How Innovation and People Go Hand in Hand.

In the fast-paced world of business jet maintenance, efficiency and precision are everything. At JetSupport, every decision, from technical upgrades to staff planning, revolves around one goal: maximizing aircraft availability while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

To achieve that, JetSupport has embarked on an innovative collaboration with Beyonder, a technology partner specializing in smart workforce management solutions. Together, they are developing a Resource Planner; a digital tool designed to make day-to-day operations smoother, smarter, and more efficient.

From manual planning to intelligent resource management

For years, Duty Managers and MCC at JetSupport have been the backbone of operational planning. They coordinate technicians, monitor aircraft schedules, and ensure that every maintenance task runs on time. But much of this work is still manual: spreadsheets, phone calls, and constant adjustments when flight schedules change.

According to internal analysis, up to 70% of a Duty Manager’s time is spent on repetitive administrative work, while only 30% is dedicated to strategic and technical decision-making. In an industry where every minute counts, that imbalance represents a major opportunity for improvement.

The new Resource Planner aims to turn that around. By intelligently matching the demand for maintenance work with the availability, certifications, and skill sets of JetSupport’s technicians, the system can automate the most time-consuming aspects of planning.

“It’s about using our people’s time where it really matters,” says one of the project leads. “We want our Duty Managers and MCC to focus on the 30% that makes the difference. The human insight, the operational decisions, and the technical coordination instead of repetitive scheduling tasks.”

Minimum Viable Product Phase

The Resource Planner is currently in its MVP phase (Minimum Viable Product). Once implemented, it will become a central part of JetSupport’s daily operations, helping to balance workload and anticipate future capacity needs.

The system is designed to:

  • Automate routine scheduling, based on real-time data about availability and expertise.
  • Visualize resource allocation across different maintenance projects and aircraft types.
  • Support Duty Managers and MCC in decision-making with clear, data-driven insights.
  • Provide live insights to all stakeholders

Ultimately, this tool will enhance JetSupport’s ability to provide Flexible Aircraft Support across its European locations, including Amsterdam, Le Bourget, Oberpfaffenhofen, and Nice.

Addressing the shortage of skilled technicians

Like many companies in the European MRO for business aviation, JetSupport faces an ongoing challenge: the shortage of certified maintenance technicians. Rather than simply trying to hire more people, the company is focusing on working smarter with the team it has.

By removing administrative bottlenecks, the Resource Planner allows skilled staff to spend more time doing what they do best, which is maintaining aircraft safely and efficiently. This shift not only improves operational performance but also strengthens employee engagement and satisfaction.

“It’s a waste to have highly qualified technicians or experienced Managers spending hours on scheduling,” the team explains. “With the right digital support, we can let them focus on quality, problem-solving, and supporting our customers. The things that make JetSupport stand out.”

Building efficiency through technology

After scanning and researching the market for standard tooling to solve this puzzle and accelerate our operations, we concluded there are no tools available that would suffice. And besides that, JetSupport doesn’t settle for less than the most optimal solutions for our clients, we needed to invest in an innovative platform for us to outperform the market & perfectly align with our clients needs. Investing in modern tooling also gave us a far better position as an employer, offering our colleagues the best and modern tools available.

A people-first approach to innovation

What makes this project unique is not just the technology, but the philosophy behind it. JetSupport’s approach to innovation is deeply human: every digital tool must serve the people who use it.

The collaboration with Beyonder is a perfect example of that mindset. Instead of building a generic workforce management system, the two teams are co-creating a solution that fits the specific operational needs of aircraft maintenance in Amsterdam and across Europe.

This hands-on, collaborative development ensures that the system reflects the real-life dynamics of JetSupport’s hangars and maintenance teams, from shift planning to AOG (Aircraft on Ground) responses.

Strengthening the future of business jet maintenance

As JetSupport prepares to roll out the Resource Planner, the project reflects a broader vision: combining high-quality aircraft maintenance with smart, data-driven operations.

It’s another step in JetSupport’s ongoing journey to innovate while staying true to its core values: flexibility, transparency, and personal service. Whether it’s a complex base maintenance project, a 24/7 AOG support mission, or simply improving the daily workflow of its team, JetSupport continues to invest in tools and partnerships that make aircrafts perform at their best.

The Resource Planner project illustrates that innovation in aviation doesn’t always come from advanced avionics. Sometimes, it starts with understanding how people work and how technology can help them do it even better.
